Pray for persecuted Christians to remain hopeful, diligent and safe this Easter

A state of emergency has been declared in Egypt following two church bombings on Sunday 9 April, which killed at least 44 people and injured over 100 people. [ Images: Mohamed Abd El Ghany/Reuters ]“The latest bombings and killings of Christians in Egypt have highlighted again the need for solidarity, aid, and prayers for persecuted Christians around the world.

This has been called the single deadliest day of violence against Egyptian Christians in decades. It comes as attacks against Christians have increased in recent months. Earlier this year, Islamic State announced they would be targeting Egyptian Christians.

Open Doors contact in Egypt said, “One of the most joyful days for Christians in Egypt is Palm Sunday… The joyful day turned into a painful tragedy.”

He heard about the first attack as he was leaving to go to his own church service with his family. Shortly after his service finished he heard about the second attack, “…doubling our pain and deepening our shock.”

Jesus the Game Changer

In the fresh new series Jesus the Game Changer, well-known Christian communicator Karl Faase takes an intellectual look at the evidence for Jesus’ existence and his impact on the world. Radio stations who want to help promote it can download radio spots from Media Point (available from July 14th – just search for Jesus The Game Changer).

Speaking with a collective of academics and experts from various countries, Karl Faase investigates how, in a time when the Roman Empire was rising and taking over the world, a man who appeared to have been defeated, was able to impact so many people for over 2000 years.

Your EOFY Success Checklist from fundraising experts Dunham+Company

D+C logoby Joshua Crowther, Dunham+Company

1. Keep the main thing the main thing.
You’re fundraising, so don’t get distracted. And don’t distract donors with other fundraising asks like bequests or crowdfunding side-projects. They need you to show them why your big EOFY campaign is so important RIGHT NOW.

2. Keep your eyes on the data so you can drive to the goal.
Donors like to know how much of your EOFY goal has come in to-date. Your accurate reporting generates trust, and is also an opportunity for your donor to see the real difference their gift can make.

Basic Excel Database

Written by Gutenberg on . Posted in Management

How do you store your organisation's key contacts? When it comes to contact management you have 4 main options:
  1. A client/donor relationship management database like Profiler, ACT! or Salesforce (all of which we highly recommend), which to some organisations can seem a daunting prospect.
  2. Use Microsoft outlook to manage your contacts, which is not a bad idea for individuals but no good when there is more than one person using the database.
  3. You could keep scraps of paper with your contacts' details on them strewn around your office in odd places (not recommended).
  4. Or if you're not quite at the stage of using a client/donor relationship management system, another option is to keep a simple shared contacts database in Microsoft Excel.
Josh Ried from Pulse 94.1 developed the Excel databases below, which you are more than welcome to use.
