dwayne965Dwayne Jeffries has been announced as the new CEO for Brisbane’s 96five

Veteran broadcaster, sesquipedalian, husband, and father of two girls, Dwayne has extensive experience in commercial radio, and more recently Christian community radio.

For over 25 years he has been on air and leading radio station teams around Australia, and even worked in Ireland for a period of time. Most recently Dwayne’s roles have included Breakfast Anchor for 2GO Gosford and Content Director for WSFM, and over the last four years, he has been Content Director for Sydney’s Hope Media.

In the second half of 2016 Sydney’s Hope Media and Brisbane’s 96five began a co-mission arrangement where both stations began working closely together to provide enhanced services in both cities. Dwayne has played a key role in working with both Content Teams, regularly commuting between Sydney and Brisbane, however his relationship with 96five began many years ago.

Dwayne explains, “96five was the first Christian radio station I’d ever heard. In fact, the first date I went on with my wife Bronwyn was to her birthday party. I had just arrived on the Gold Coast and she felt sorry for me. It was there where I met some of her friends who were on staff at 96five at that time, so I thought I’d tune in. I loved listening to 96five then, and to be invited to join the family is like a ‘coming home’ for Bron and I.

The decision to move has not been an easy one as Dwayne describes his time at Hope Media as ‘one of the greatest joys of my time in media’ and he farewells a team that hold him in high esteem. However, 96five does hold special meaning as his first introduction to Christian media and Dwayne explains, ‘to be given the chance to continue building the ministry for Brisbane families is something both my wife and I are very excited about!

In the words of his youngest daughter, Dwayne and his family are ‘counting the sleeps’ until they make the move to Brisbane in mid-January. The timing works perfectly for his eldest daughter to commence high school.

Thankfully, the team at Hope Media won’t be saying goodbye to Dwayne. As he will also continue his role as Co-Mission Content Director for both Hope Media and 96five, Dwyane will regularly visit the Sydney team from his new Brisbane base.
