Christian media outlets across Australia and for the first time in New Zealand, are preparing their audiences for this year’s Shoebox Sunday and the addition of a competition!
Shoebox Sunday on October 30th is an initiative of Samaritan’s Purse Australia for their project Operation Christmas Child (OCC). The project involves an annual collection of gift- filled shoeboxes for children in developing nations.
Every year, over 10 million gift-filled shoeboxes are hand-delivered worldwide to children in desperate need. And this year in partnership with Christian Media we are running a competition, where the prize is an opportunity for 2 people travelling to Cambodia and witness the joy experienced by the children receiving their shoeboxes.
The completion requires eligible entrants to tell us in 25 words or less, “why you pack a shoebox?”.
Along with the Australian Christian Channel, radio stations around Australia and New Zealand are involved in the promotion of the national event and competition:
- Hope 103.2 – Sydney
- 89.9 Light FM – Melbourne
- 96 Five FM – Brisbane
- 107.9 Life FM – Adelaide
- 98five Sonshine FM – Perth
- Ultra106five – Hobart
- 1Way FM – Canberra
- 96Three FM Geelong
- Rhema FM – Newcastle
- Juice 107.3 – Gold Coast
- Vision Christian Radio – nation-wide
- Rhema – New Zealand
- Life FM – New Zealand
- Star – New Zealand
The promotion with Christian media outlets initially encourages local churches to register as official drop-off locations. The aim is for churches to use the opportunity to connect with their local community who may not usually attend a Sunday service.
