CMAA Partners with Bible Society’s Short Film Project

Dave Jensen StoryThe 200 Stories Project is an opportunity for budding and seasoned short-film makers to share creative stories of transformation, life and light.

2017 marks 200 years of sharing the Bible in Australia. To celebrate this milestone, we’re inviting film makers to help showcase the impact the Bible has had on Australians from all walks of life.

There is one single criteriaeach film must incorporate an Australian communicating a verse from the Bible.

Final film submissions due by 10 February 2017

A modern day re-telling of the book of Job will be filmed in Sydney soon.

Filming of the a new Christian feature film ‘Trust’ will begin June 13 in Sydney’s northern beaches and inner city area.

Written and Directed by Angus Benfield and Produced by Lyle Carey, ‘Trust’ is inspired by the Biblical story of Job centred around a typical everyday Australian family.

Birgit Myaard receives 2nd runner up Kairos prize at 2016 MovieGuide Awards_300x150Congratulations to Australian-based screenwriter Birgit Myaard on winning a $10,000 prize at the 2016 MovieGuide Awards.

Birgit’s script ‘The Hand of a Woman’ won the 2016 Kairos Prize 2nd Runner Up award.

The Kairos Prizes for Spiritually Uplifting Screenplays aims to encourage screenwriting newcomers by awarding a total of $50,000 to the top three entries.

Birgit was presented with the award at the annual MovieGuide Awards in LA on February 5th.

‘Risen’ now showing

Risen_ACC_300x169Resurrection film ‘Risen’ is now showing in Australian cinemas (opening Thurs 18th Feb).

The movie stars Joseph Fiennes as Roman soldier Clavius who is ordered to find out what happened to Jesus after he was crucified, to disprove rumours that the Messiah had risen from death, and prevent an uprising in Jerusalem.

Faith on Film in 2016

Hollywood’s interest in faith-based content continues with a number of biblical blockbusters due for release this year in a variety of formats.

Along with several box office films, a TV drama about King David, and a televised Passion play musical, are all planned to hit screens in 2016.

1500 Steps DVD hits USA stores

1500StepsDVDCover_300x428Australian Christian film ’1500 Steps’ has been picked up by a USA distributor, with the DVD soon to be on sale across America.

The movie, directed by CMA member Josh Reid, has been selected for placement at Walmart stores across the USA and is also available in Christian bookstores in the USA and online. The DVD will be on Walmart shelves from Oct 6th.

The film is being distributed by Bridgestone Media Group.

Deadline reports that Hugh Jackman will star as Saul of Tarsus in a film that he will also produce alongside Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
