Open Doors presents the Insanity of God TourNik and Ruth Ripken were an ordinary couple, and former pastors from Kentucky, who travelled to Somalia in the 90’s to live as missionaries in the middle of a war zone. “It was like I was getting on a plane in the New Testament and getting off the plane in the Old Testament. Open Doors began in 1955 when Brother Andrew smuggled bibles and other Christian literature behind the Iron Curtain. Hearing the words of Revelation 3:2, “Awake, strengthen what remains and is on the point of death,” he was moved to action.

In 2015, Open Doors will reach a milestone of 60 years supporting the persecuted church. Open Doors believes that there are no ‘closed doors’ to the gospel and still responds to the call to provide God’s people with bibles. The simple act of Brother Andrew’s one-man mission has grown the ministry to encompass 20 international offices and on-the-ground support for Christians facing persecution in more than 60 countries.
