Virtually every radio station I’ve worked at over the past 28+ years has had an annual Sales Push campaign of some description. The strategy and tactics of the ‘Sales Push’ have been key components to the financial success of radio stations across the globe, and NOT just in major metropolitan markets! The same principles are also effective for stations in country and regional cities too.
The success of a Sales Push relies on
One of the greatest challenges a radio station sales executive has is
1. Getting the attention of a prospect in the first place
2. Getting them out of their business environment to avoid the distraction of their own customers in store/on site, incoming phone calls, emails, let alone staff knocking on their office door etc.
3. Getting them alone or in a small group setting allowing us lengthy quality time with them to establish their needs and then to make a credible presentation that would provide a great solution for the prospects – the ultimate aim, signing them up forming a long term business partnership
Our sales push campaigns with attractive incentives encouraging businesses to attend one of our presentations creates a “special event” to invite prospects to so we can create an excuse to achieve the above.
